Hey, I’m Ryan. Pull up a chair.
This site is a living-room conversation about where technology is actually heading. Not the keynote version, and not the doom version. Just a guy with a mug of cocoa, thinking out loud about AI, VR, everyday gadgets, and the strange new habits they’re building in all of us.

By day I’m a data engineer, which means I spend a lot of time watching AI change how work gets done, sometimes from inside the blast radius. I’ve been writing code for over a decade, and lately the most interesting question isn’t “can AI do this?” It’s “okay, now what do we do?”
Snapshots. Honest check-ins on where things stand right now, so someday we can look back and laugh (or wince).
State of Slop. Every so often I make images, videos, and songs with the latest AI tools and tell you what they can and can’t do yet.
Debates. The strongest case on each side, like data centers and energy or whether AI art is art, and then where I land.
Practical stuff. Plain-English guides, like spotting AI-made content without losing your mind.
Everyday tech. Glasses, headsets, robot vacuums, crypto from the couch. Observing, never selling.

A little about me, as seasoning: I’m a new dad, Japanese-American, living in Tacoma. I play music, WFH, go to church, and have opinions about most gadgets I’ve owned. You’ll meet those parts of me as we go.
I want you to leave a little entertained, a little better informed, and a little more thoughtful about how you spend your time, attention, and money in a world that’s moving fast.
Older posts from this site’s earlier life (camping, cooking, cigars) are still in the archive. Wander in if you’re curious.
Thanks for stopping by. New posts land weekly.
